Assistant Project Manager

Job Summary
The Assistant Project Manager will support the Project Manager in planning, coordinating, and executing projects from initiation to completion. This role is responsible for managing various aspects of the project lifecycle, including scheduling, resource management, risk mitigation, and communication with stakeholders. The ideal candidate will have excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
- Assist in the development of project plans, schedules, and budgets.
- Coordinate tasks and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Monitor project progress and report updates to the Project Manager and stakeholders.
- Organize and maintain project documentation, including contracts, schedules, and reports.
- Help identify project risks and work with the Project Manager to develop mitigation strategies.
- Facilitate communication between team members, clients, and vendors to ensure seamless collaboration.
- Assist in procurement processes, such as obtaining quotes and managing vendor contracts.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, project standards, and safety regulations.
- Track project expenses and assist in budget management.
- Conduct project meetings and document minutes and follow-up actions.
- Provide administrative support to the project management team as needed.
Education and Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in project management, Business, or a related field.
- At least 3 years of experience in project management or a related role.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills.
- Proficiency in project management software (e.g., Microsoft Project, Trello, Asana).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Knowledge of project management methodologies such as Agile or Waterfall is a plus.
Added Advantage if you have
- Experience with budget management and cost tracking.
- Knowledge of contract administration and procurement processes.
Working Conditions
- Full-time role based in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
- May require occasional travel.
