The Network for Innovation and Sustainability in Agriculture and Tourism (NISAT) recently held its closeout event, marking the successful completion of a two-year project aimed at fostering entrepreneurship in the Agroecology and Ecotourism sectors in Uganda. The project, launched by the French Embassy in Uganda and Stanbic Business Incubator Limited (SBIL), aimed to support micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in these sectors to develop sustainably and create jobs by promoting the emergence of networks of actors.

The closeout event, which was held on 15th March 2023, at the Serena Hotel in Kampala, was attended by the French Ambassador, His Excellency Xavier Sticker. At the event, SMEs showcased their achievements and success stories, highlighting the significant impact of the project on their businesses. The project successfully graduated 110 youth and women-owned MSMEs in agro-ecology and eco-tourism, providing training, coaching, mentorship, and micro-grants to build sustainable businesses and create new jobs for Uganda’s youth.

One of the key players in the project was StartHub Africa, which implemented trainings on business modelling and product development. The training provided by StartHub Africa was crucial in helping MSMEs in the agro-ecology and eco-tourism sectors to develop sustainable business models and products that would enable them to compete effectively in the marketplace.
