At\u00a0MasterPiece\u00a0Development Foundation Limited, Juliet Bridget Kusiima has built an enterprise around turning discarded glass into products such as glasses,\u00a0chandeliers\u00a0and wall hangers.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Through the\u00a0<\/span>WeWork \u2013 Green and Decent Jobs for Youth<\/span><\/b>\u00a0project, Juliet received mentorship, business coaching and grant funding to strengthen the areas of the business that could unlock its growth. The engagement helped her take a closer look at her customers, strengthen her sales\u00a0approach\u00a0and\u00a0identify\u00a0new opportunities to create value from the skills and materials already available to the business.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Understanding the customer<\/h2>\n

A key focus of the mentorship was helping the entrepreneur\u00a0identify\u00a0the customers most likely to buy the business’s products and services.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The coaching covered customer identification, sales\u00a0strategy\u00a0and market outreach, helping Juliet become more deliberate about how she approached potential customers. Structured weekly sales plans were also introduced, turning customer outreach into a more consistent part of the business.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cThe mentorship helped me better understand who my customers are and how to approach them. Having a clear plan for reaching out to potential customers has also made our sales efforts more intentional,\u201d Juliet said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

This shift helped the business expand its customer base to include restaurants and customers reached through social media platforms.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The business has also strengthened its partnership with\u00a0Sheraton\u00a0Hotel, securing space to\u00a0showcase\u00a0its products and increase visibility among potential customers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With a clearer approach to the market,\u00a0MasterPiece\u00a0Development Foundation was able to turn its customer outreach into tangible business growth.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Growth beyond the numbers<\/h2>\n

Over five months of mentorship, the business increased its monthly revenue by\u00a0<\/span>775%.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

While the percentage reflects significant financial growth, the progress was also driven by changes in how the business approached its market. A clearer understanding of target<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>customers, more<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>consistent outreach and structured sales planning helped create stronger demand for its products and services.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

During the same period,\u00a0MasterPiece\u00a0Development Foundation served more than\u00a0<\/span>83 customers<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and produced and sold over\u00a0<\/span>3,000 glass products and services<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The growth also created an opportunity to look beyond the business’s original product range.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Creating new value from existing skills\u00a0<\/span><\/h2>\n

MasterPiece\u00a0Development Foundation previously focused on recycled glass products such as glasses,\u00a0chandeliers\u00a0and wall hangers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the business developed, it expanded its offering to include\u00a0<\/span>glass-cutting services and storage jars<\/span><\/b>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The introduction of glass-cutting created an\u00a0additional\u00a0revenue stream while allowing the business to serve a wider range of customer needs. Meanwhile, the addition of wooden covers to storage jars\u00a0provided\u00a0an opportunity for value addition.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWe\u00a0realised\u00a0that we could do more with the skills and materials we already had. Adding glass-cutting and storage jars helped us create new products and reach more customers.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

These changes\u00a0demonstrate\u00a0how businesses in the circular economy can find new opportunities by\u00a0building on\u00a0the materials, skills and processes they already have.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Investing in the next stage of growth<\/h2>\n

The grant enabled the business to strengthen its production capacity and expand its market outreach.<\/p>\n

The funding was used to engage sales personnel, undertake market outreach activities, and facilitate the collection and transportation of raw materials. It also covered production inputs such as sandpaper belts and investments to add value to the business\u2019s products.<\/p>\n

Together, these investments helped the business strengthen the activities needed to support its growth, from production to reaching customers.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As the business expanded, the impact also extended beyond sales and production.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Creating opportunities for others<\/h2>\n

Within just five months, the growth of MasterPiece Development Foundation has enabled the business to create two jobs<\/strong>, contributing to new employment opportunities in its community.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

This reflects one of the broader\u00a0objectives\u00a0of supporting youth-led businesses in the green and circular economy: enabling entrepreneurs to build enterprises that can create opportunities beyond their own livelihoods.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The business has also adopted\u00a0<\/span>Zoho Books<\/span><\/b>\u00a0to strengthen financial record-keeping and improve the management of its business finances.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

As\u00a0MasterPiece\u00a0Development Foundation continues to grow, stronger financial systems will help provide a clearer picture of business performance and support more informed decision-making.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A clearer path to growth<\/h2>\n

MasterPiece\u00a0Development Foundation’s progress shows that business growth does not always require starting over or creating an entirely new product.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The foundation already had products and the skills to produce them. The opportunity was in understanding the market more clearly, reaching the right customers and identifying additional ways to create value.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For Juliet and MasterPiece Development Foundation, the journey illustrates how the right support can help entrepreneurs move from simply having products to building a clearer, more deliberate path for business growth.<\/span><\/p>\n
