Communications Manager

Job Summary

The Communications manager for StartHub Africa is a mid-level, management role for someone with at least 3-7 years of experience.

You will create, implement, and oversee internal and external communication campaigns that effectively describe and promote StartHub Africa and our programs.

You will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with our beneficiaries, stakeholders, building a strong online presence for the company, and overseeing content creation to promote our brand and services.

The ideal candidate is an extrovert with a passion for speaking and engaging with people, a quick thinker, a skilled content writer, and a researcher, and will have experience in community management, and social media management.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities

Oversee all internal and external communications and ensuring consistent communication and engagement.

Plan and implement communication campaigns and strategies.

Work with and support project managers to design or implement communication and marketing campaigns.

Write blogposts, impact stories and reports (Collaborate with StartHub sub-teams to create relevant information/content).

Write and prepare monthly newsletter and share within the organization’s communities.

Manage and build relationships with communities of beneficiaries, participants, partners, subscribers, and media.

Plan and manage the design, content, and production of all communication and promotion materials, including social media.

Lead the communications and public relations staff, including service providers.

Monitor, track and respond to feedback and online reviews/comments.

Manage events calendar and occasionally lead to organize and manage events to boost brand awareness and visibility.

Seek for opportunities to pitch, speak, and represent StartHub Africa. For example, in mainstream media, at events, conferences etc.

Project budget development and cost tracking

Analytics: Track and report media coverage, backlinks referrals, and SEO and social media analytics.

Stay up to date with digital technology trends.

Education and Experience Requirements

Experience in Journalism, Communications, English, Marketing, Business, OR related field.

A confident communicator and presenter (You love and enjoy connecting and speaking to people).

Excellent creative content writing and copywriting skills.

Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally

Excellent organizational and planning skills

Superior project management and time management skills

A wide degree of creativity and latitude

Strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in digital media/social media

Self motivated with a positive, professional approach to management, and able to figure out things.

Experience in social media management, digital marketing, brand management, communications, OR similar.

Experience in WordPress management & SEO
