Scope of Internship
StartHub Africa Tanzania (SHA TZ) in partnership with the University of Dar es Salaam (UD) through its College of ICT is running a unique yearlong practical innovation program for the study year of 2022/2023. We are looking for passionate individuals to intern/volunteer with us and provide support to our early-stage student-led startups during the second phase of the program. The internship will be for two (2) months and is designed to be engaging, interactive, and practical, to provide students with the skills and knowledge they need to create viable businesses/startups at the end of the two months. The internship/volunteer position will be fully in Dar es salaam, Tanzania at the University of Dar es salaam.
Main Tasks and Responsibilities
Provide practical, hands-on training to help students to move to the next level. This includes content development with the lead trainer and the training itself in business model design, customer discovery and market research, developing MVPs, pitching and teamwork among others.
Coordinate Workshops and seminars with successful founders to enable peer-learning
Provide mentoring and coaching to offer individual guidance and support as student founders work on their startups. This involves regular meetings with them, feedback on their progress and help with setting and achieving goals.
Competence, Experience and Skills
- Experience or min. strong interest in working with/in startups.
- Business development knowledge is required.
- Creativity and ability to work with limited resources.
- Open-minded and ready to learn and adjust to the realities and experiences of the students.
Benefits
As we are just starting operations in TZ, we are not able to compensate you for your expenses. But we do promise you more practical experience and opportunities for personal growth than any other internship could ever provide you. We recommend applying for a stipend through DAAD among others and are happy to support you in the process.
