Investment Guide Launch

The Investment Guide Africa is a program by the Tech-Entrepreneurship Initiative Make-IT in Africa in cooperation with the largest provider of investor data in emerging economies, AlliedCrowds, and the Business Scouts for Development.

Challenge

In Uganda, entrepreneurs and startups struggle to access funding and investment opportunities. This is due to a lack of information and knowledge about the investment landscape and how to navigate it effectively. As a result, many promising startups struggle to grow and scale their businesses. Additionally, investors find it difficult to identify and connect with high-potential startups. This situation creates a gap between the startup and investor ecosystems, hindering the growth of the overall entrepreneurship ecosystem in Uganda.

Solution

StartHub Africa (SHA) was contracted to implement the launch event for the Investment Guide in Uganda, which is a program by the Tech-Entrepreneurship Initiative Make-IT in Africa in cooperation with AlliedCrowds and the Business Scouts for Development. SHA successfully organized and implemented the launch event, which aimed to bring together the startup and investor ecosystems of Uganda.

SHA identified a suitable venue in Kampala, designed the marketing and communication strategy, and invited stakeholders such as participants, speakers, exhibitors, and media representatives. They managed participant communication and handled all technical matters of the event, including managing sub-contractors and the budget efficiently.

Results

The event was outstanding, memorable, and interactive, enabling a good exchange and networking among the key stakeholders and players in the investment ecosystem in Uganda. Startups were given the opportunity to showcase their businesses at the investment guide mini-Trade-Fair and through pitches, while strategic meetings were set up for investors and start-ups/corporates.

Through the event, SHA successfully brought together the startup and investor ecosystems of Uganda and provided entrepreneurs with detailed information about funding and investment in Uganda. SHA’s strong project management and communication skills were evident throughout the event, despite tight timelines.
