WFP Retailer Capacity Strengthening

The Retailer Capacity Strengthening Project, implemented in partnership with the World Food Programme (WFP), aims to empower food retailers in refugee settlements by providing them with essential business and marketing skills.
The project focuses on enhancing retailer operations, improving market conditions, and ensuring sustainable food access in the regions of Nakivale and Oruchinga in Isingiro District, and Adjumani District. Key deliverables include conducting a needs assessment, delivering training workshops, providing follow-up support, and recognizing top-performing retailers with Retailer of the Year awards for outstanding progress and application of skills.

Objectives
  1. Provide targeted training to retailers to strengthen their business management, marketing strategies, and financial literacy.
  2. Foster innovative approaches through design-thinking sprints focused on market improvements.
  3. Improve the physical infrastructure of marketplaces, making them more accessible and hygienic.
  4. Recognize and reward top-performing retailers who demonstrate significant progress and application of newly acquired skills.
